Paint color matcher

Drop in a room photo, tap the wall or surface you want to match, and see the closest colors across four major paint brands. It runs entirely in your browser.

How this works

  1. 1 Upload a room photo and tap the surface, or type a hex code.
  2. 2 Compare the closest paint colors across four major brands.
  3. 3 Order physical samples before buying; a screen can only approximate paint.

Read this first: matches are a visual approximation.

Paint colors have no official on-screen value. The swatches here are approximate representations compiled from public sources, and they shift with your monitor, your camera, and the room's lighting. Treat every result as a starting shortlist, not an answer. Always buy a sample pot or a physical fan-deck chip and test it on your own wall, in your own light, before you commit.

Guide

How to match paint accurately

A screen match gets you to a shortlist fast, but four things stop it from being final: your monitor is not calibrated to any paint standard, your camera white-balances the photo, the paint's finish (matte, eggshell, gloss) changes how it reads, and the light in your room is different from the light in ours. Use the tool to narrow ten thousand colors down to a handful, then do the physical steps below.

  1. 1 Shortlist here Sample the exact surface you care about and note the top two or three matches per brand.
  2. 2 Get real chips Order the fan-deck chips or grab them in-store. Hold them against the surface you are matching.
  3. 3 Buy sample pots Paint a large swatch (at least 30 cm) on the actual wall, or on a board you can move around the room.
  4. 4 Watch it all day Morning, midday, and evening light shift a color dramatically. North- and south-facing rooms differ too.
  5. 5 Match the finish Matte looks lighter and flatter than the same color in a sheen. Test the finish you will actually use.

If you need a laboratory-grade match to an existing color, most paint stores can scan a physical sample with a spectrophotometer and mix to it. That reads the pigment directly and beats any screen, including this one.

FAQ

Common questions

Why do two brands show different closest colors?
Each brand formulates its own palette, so the nearest color in one line can sit a little warmer or cooler than the nearest in another. Comparing across brands is exactly what this tool is for.
Can I match a color I already have a code for?
Yes. Type or paste any HEX into the sampled-color box, or use "Pick from screen" in a supported browser, and the matches update.
Is this affiliated with any paint brand?
No. Brand names and color codes are the trademarks of their respective owners and appear only to identify colors. There is no partnership, endorsement, or paid placement.
