Common questions
How is this different from a random palette site?
Nothing here is a fixed list. Every palette is computed from color theory in OKLCH at the moment you press generate, every swatch carries its real name from the 31,912-name registry, and locking a color rebuilds the rest around it.
What does locking do?
A locked swatch never changes. Generate again and the unlocked colors rebuild around your locks using the active mode's rules, so you can keep a brand color and explore everything else.
Which export formats are supported?
CSS custom properties, Tailwind config, SCSS variables, JSON, SVG, Adobe .ase, GIMP .gpl, Procreate swatches, and Figma-ready values, plus a permalink that reopens the exact palette.
Can I start from a photo?
Yes. Extract colors in the analyzer and every pick carries into the generator with one tap, arriving locked so generating never wipes them.
What do the harmony modes actually do?
They place hues by geometry on the color wheel: complementary sits opposite, triadic spaces three hues 120 degrees apart, analogous keeps neighbors within 60 degrees. Mood modes constrain lightness and chroma instead, which is what makes pastel soft and neon loud.
